The Grammy nominations are out, and one thing is certain, no lady will be winning Album of the Year in 2013. Not Fiona Apple. Not Katy Perry, nor Kelly Clarkson. Sorry ladies, it’s a man’s world after all.
Last night’s Taylor Swift and LL Cool J hosted the Grammy Nominations Concert Live!! in Nashville, Tennessee. Throughout the night, the nominees were revealed, and there were tons of surprises.
The Album of the Year category is filled with testosterone. The nominees include: The Black Keys for El Camino, fun. for Some Nights, Mumford & Sons for Babel, Frank Ocean for Channel Orange and Jack White for Blunderbuss.
In the Record of the Year category, Kelly Clarkson and Taylor Swift were able to squeeze their way in. Clarkson is nominated for “Stronger,” while Swift is nominated for “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” Also in the running are The Black Keys for “Lonely Boy,” fun. for “We Are Young,” Gotye for “Somebody I Used To Know,” and Frank Ocean for “Thinkin Bout You.”
The nominees for Best New Artist include Alabama Shakes, fun., Hunter Hayes, the Lumineers and Frank Ocean. Sorry, no Carly Rae Jepsen.
In the Best Pop Vocals category, there were more than a couple female nominees including Clarkson for Stronger, Florence + the Machine for Ceremonials and P!nk for The Truth About Love. Fun. and Maroon 5 rounded up the category with Some Nights and Overexposed.
Categories like Alternative Album, Best Rap Album and Best R&B Album weren’t announced during the event, but the entire list is posted on the Grammy website. You can head over there for the complete list of nominees.
