This week, Thom Yorke‘s side project Atoms For Peace released a new and complicated single titled “Default.”  The band also announced the tentative release date for their debut album. Also, the MTV VMAs took place last night and racy pop star Rihanna came out the big winner.   Elsewhere, The Black Keys have announced that they’re back in the studio, prepping for an eight album. We might not have to wait much longer for a follow-up to El Camino. All that and more below.

  • The Black Keys Are Back In The Studio: The Black Keys are prepping for their eight album. According to Rolling Stone, the duo have started on their next LP. The two plan to regroup in early 2013 to officially begin recording, which they hope to finish quickly.
  • VMA Wrap-Up: Yesterday MTV celebrated a bunch of celebrities. The big VMAs were last night and everyone who’s had a No. 1 single in recent times was there including Rihanna, Frank Ocean and Taylor Swift. Ri-Ri took home the video of the year award for “We Found Love.” Chris Brown won best male video for “Turn Up The Music”, while Drake took home the award for best hip hop video for “HYFR.” Check out the complete list of winners at MTV.
  • Cee Lo Developing NBC Shows: Cee Lo is branching out. According to Rolling Stone, the singer just signed a deal with NBC to develop and produce new scripted and unscripted projects. One of the shows the network is considering is a multi-camera, semi-autobiographical scripted comedy based on Green’s experiences handling his music career and family life. Being a judge on The Voice has definitely worked for this artist.
  • Atoms For Peace Release New Single: Thom Yorke’s other project, you know the one with Nigel Godrich and Flea, is still very much an ongoing thing. Atoms for Peace released a new single on iTunes this week called “Default”. The band plans to release their debut album sometime in 2013. Listen to “Default” below:
