Selena Gomez's "While I'm Dead... Feed the Dog" Workday

She's certainly in demand, as Selena Gomez spent the day working on one of her many projects in Monrovia, California on Tuesday afternoon (August 28).

While she's recently been shooting scenes for "Parental Guidance," the 17-year-old singer/actress now finds herself engulfed in the indie project "While I'm Dead.. Feed the Dog."

Miss Gomez was joined by castmates including Heather Graham and Jason Lee on the west coast set, though she's said to have spent her free time keeping to herself while focusing on her lines.

Based on Ric Browde‘s 2000 novel of the same name, “While I’m Dead..Feed The Dog” is described as a "coming-of-age project based on a 16-year-old named Ric Thibault."

The plot summary from Browde's penning reads: “While trying to get into the pants of the most beautiful girl in the world, sixteen-year-old Ric Thibault ends up in the back of a limo on the road to rock’n'roll superstardom opening up for Bowie. But on the way there he hits a bump or two – a few dead Mafia hitmen here, a nymphomaniac next door there, not to mention a few dying Latin teachers, narcoleptic nuns, inept policemen, unscrupulous lawyers, buffoon reporters, huckster televangelists and greedy relatives.”

Anna Faris & Chris Pratt: Postpartum Doggy Drop-Off

Two days after the arrival of their son, new parents Anna Faris and Chris Pratt were seen in Reseda, Calif. on Monday (August 27). The couple were all smiles as they dropped their dogs off at a kennel and headed over to Cedars-Sinai to visit their newborn baby boy, Jack.

“It’s a boy! Thanks for all your kind words,” the proud papa wrote on Twitter. “In lieu of gifts we ask that you mouth kiss a stranger,” he joked.

The funny couple welcomed their first child on Saturday (August 25). Due to his premature delivery, baby Jack is staying at the NICU.

Their rep said in a statement, “Anna Faris and Chris Pratt are happy to announce the birth of their beautiful baby boy Jack. He arrived earlier than expected and will be spending some time in the NICU. The happy parents thank you for your warm wishes and ask that you honor their privacy during this time.”

Nina Simone Biopic Is Finally Happening, Zoe Saldana To Star

zoe saldana Nina Simone Biopic Is Finally Happening, Zoe Saldana To Star

Actress Zoe Saldana, best known to audiences for her roles in Star Trek and Avatar, will next be introduced to the masses as none other than Nina Simone—as Saldana is set to star as the staggeringly gifted singer in an upcoming biopic.

The film will be simply titled—Nina—and is set to begin production on October 16^th in Los Angeles. Zoe Saldana stepped in to play Simone after numerous production delays (which included Mary J. Blige dropping out of the role due to budget problems). She’ll be joined by David Oyelowo (The Help) as Clifton Henderson. Henderson was Nina Simon’s manager. Nina was written by Cynthia Mort, who will also direct.

The biopic is a long time coming, and it is assumed it will cover the singer’s entire life. As Rolling Stone notes, Simone began singing in church as a young girl, learned to play the organ at age seven, and released several classic albums and songs, nimbly skipping though such genres as jazz, folk, soul, R&B, and gospel. Simone was also a prominent figure in the 1960s Civil Rights movement. She died in 2003 after suffering from breast cancer for several years.
