In case you were too busy freaking out about Star Wars to notice, Hurricane Sandy—the largest (in diameter) Atlantic hurricane on record—smashed into the American east coast this week, and has so far claimed 88 lives, and cost at least $20 billion in damages across 24 states ($50 billion, if you calculate the costs of business interruption and include that with the actual damage). So, yeah, things have been better on the East coast. Which is why Bruce Springsteen and a host of other artists are headlining a benefit concert for the victims this Friday.
NBC will be airing a benefit concert this Friday night (the broadcast will also air on USA, MSNBC, CNBC, Brave, E!, Style Network, and G4, according to Rolling Stone, as well as streaming online at NBC.com, Today.com, and NBCNews.com.
So who’s on the roster for this good cause? Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, Sting, Billy Joel, and… Christina Aguilera. Hey, it’s for a good cause, so we’ll keep our comments to ourselves. NBC’s Matt Lauer will host.
If you would like to make a donation to aid the victims of Hurricane/Tropical Storm Sandy, you can visit the official Red Cross website, or call 1-800-RED-CROSS.
What do you think of the benefit show news?
