Dave Grohl Has Reunited With Queens Of The Stone Age

Foo Fighters CP 5 27 2011f Dave Grohl Has Reunited With Queens Of The Stone Age

Now that he needs something to do following the “this is totally not a break up, I swear” hiatus of his day job, the Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl is doing the honorable thing and reuniting to drum for Queens of the Stone Age on their upcoming album (and subsequent tour, we hope).

Grohl, who came to fame by drumming for Nirvana before forming the Foo Fighters in the wake of Kurt Cobain’s suicide (for the five or six of you out there who didn’t know that) recently announced that while not over, the Foos were certainly going to relax and take a vacation from one another.  Left without anything to do, the virtuosic drummer has been re-recruited by Queens of the Stone Age, for whom he drummed on their 2002 masterwork, Songs For The Deaf.

Grohl and Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme also collaborated as part of the Them Crooked Vultures supergroup trio with John Paul Jones, bassist for Led Zepplin.

The AV Club notes that the Grohl/Queens reunion has been confirmed by Homme during an interview with the BBC.

The as-yet untitled new album, Queens of the Stone Age’s first since 2007’s Era Vulgaris, will be released in 2013.

What do you think of the Grohl news?
