50 Cent’s fifth record is finally set for release, as the long gestating album has just been given a release date of November 13th. Following in the footsteps of his other, equally subtle album titles—Get Rich or Die Tryin’, The Massacre, Curtis, and Before I Self Destruct—the new album is called Street King Immortal. Get it? It’s because he’s badass, you guys.
As mentioned above, the album will be released on November 13th, but 50 Cent dropped a new single last Saturday. “New Day,” produced by Dr. Dre, mixed by Eminem, and featuring Alicia Keys on a soaring chorus, is a pretty rousing singe. Check it out:
Street King Immortal will be released via Shady/ Aftermath/ Interscope this fall. The album has been a long time coming, as 50 Cent began recording in 2009 and 2010 for a song cycle he initially titled Black Magic. Black Magic was originally planned to be a fusion of multiple genres such as rock, dance and hip-hop; however, it has been shelved in favor of Street King Immortal’s more traditional hip-hop approach.
As for the quality of the album, 50 Cent recently tweeted that Street King Immortal “is the best album I’v made sense “GET RICH OR DIE TRYIN.”
Ok, so spelling’s not the guy’s strong suit.
What do you think of the 50 Cent news?
