Lauryn Hill Pleads Guilty, Faces 3 Years In Prison
Pleading guilty to three counts of tax evasion, Lauryn Hill could face up to three years in prison following her New Jersey court room appearance on Friday (June 29).
The "Do Wop" singer faces a year in the slammer for each count after failing to file federal tax returns on more than $1.6 million with the Internal Revenue Service in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
When Hill was asked if anyone influenced her plea during the hearing, Hill reportedly said, “Indirectly, I’ve been advised my ability to speak out directly is for another time, at sentencing.”
Not long after the hearing the 37-year-old singer typed out a lengthy explanation on her blog saying she chose to live “underground” and not file her returns for the “safety” of her family.
“Obviously, the danger I faced was not accepted as reasonable grounds for deferring my tax payments, as authorities, who despite being told all of this, still chose to pursue action against me, as opposed to finding an alternative solution".
Hill continued that she was paying her taxes while she was “working consistently,” and “only stopped when it was necessary to withdraw from society, in order to guarantee the safety and well-being of myself and my family. As this, and other areas of issue are resolved and set straight, I am able to get back to doing what I should be doing, the way it should be done.”
According to the Associated Press, Hill will be sentenced some time in November.

Anna Faris: Blossoming Bump In L.A.
Mom-to-be Anna Faris and her husband Chris Pratt went out do run some errands in Los Angeles, Calif. on Wednesday (June 27). The 35-year-old actress wore black shorts and a black t-shirt to cover her bump. When Anna noticed the cameras she gave a wave.
The couple are expecting a boy in the fall.
Life & Style reports Faris is “very excited” about their son.
The source said, “She’s six months along and everything is going great, just as planned.”

Michael Jackson To Appear On Pepsi Cans
More than one billion cans will be imprinted with the late pop icon's image.

, the pop icon will be at the beach, the pool, the 7-Eleven and everywhere in between this summer thanks to a new deal with PepsiCo.</P><P>According to <a href="http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304746604577381792902984470.html?KEYWORDS=pepsi" target="_blank"><I>The Wall Street Journal</I></a> the #2 soda company is going back to the future with a massive campaign that will have Jackson's image imprinted on more than one billion cans of soda as part of its new global "Live For Now" marketing push.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Remembering Michael Jackson - One Year Later" id="id:1642144" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>Nearly 30 years after Jackson first agreed to be the voice of the brand, an agreement has been reached with Jackson's estate, though reps for both sides declined to disclose the financial terms of the deal. When Jackson signed on to shill Pepsi in 1984 he was paid a then-record $5 million. A representative for the estate said the PepsiCo campaign is the first branding deal executed since Jackson died in 2009 at the age of 50.</P><P>While Jackson was handsomely paid in the 1984 deal, it was during the filming of an ad for that sponsorship that his life was forever altered. While shooting a commercial for Pepsi, a pyro effect went wrong and Jackson's hair caught fire, seriously burning his face and scalp and requiring multiple skin grafts and resulting in intense pain. It has been speculated that Jackson's addiction to pain medications may have begun after the mishap.</P><P>The new campaign is timed to coincide with the 25th anniversary of Jackson's <I>Bad</I> album. PepsiCo will start distributing the special-edition cans in China this weekend and they will arrive in the U.S. later this month. The 16-ounce, collector's-edition can in the U.S. will feature a special download code that will link to downloads of <I>Bad</I> remixes. “I didn’t feel pressure to snap back into shape. My priority was just having my son and breastfeeding, which was something I really wanted to do, and it came easily," the mom of one explained.
Kerr continued, “I do these exercises in the morning, they’re called chakra exercises. They’re a series of twists … It only takes about 10 minutes. It’s a great way to get your waistline back after having a baby!”

Chris Pine Teases 'Star Trek' Script And Cumberbatch Villain
Chris Pine is really good at not talking about "Star Trek." So good, in fact, that he talked with MTV News' Josh Horowitz for a full four minute discussion about the upcoming sequel to the J.J. Abrams reboot, and he gave away nary a detail about the mysterious project.
The actor sat down with us to discuss his upcoming movie "People Like Us," but naturally the discussion drifted toward "Trek" and what kind of arc Captain James T. Kirk would take in the next installment.
Pine complimented the script by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, and Damon Lindelof at length, but specifics about the film were carefully glossed over.
"What you also get in that circumstance is it's a constantly evolving beast — the script, the material, how it's going to look, how J.J.'s going to shoot it," he said. "There is nothing set in stone, which is tremendously frightening, but also extremely exhilarating, especially when it's like a finely tuned racecar. They just know how to do it. In this constantly evolution, the script that they had written kept getting better and better."
The actor also touched on the mystery surrounding the identity of Benedict Cumberbatch's villain, and cautiously dissected the relationship between their two characters.
"It is structured so that the antagonist brings out all of the qualities in Kirk that need to happen in order for Kirk to grow," Pine said. "As you know from Benedict, just watching him, vocally, he's fascinating. He's got this deep resonate voice. He's a fascinating face. He's a lovely guy and just super smart. You want to see something firing in his brain, so he's not just a blood-dripping-from-the-fangs bad guy. Benedict brings those kinds of smarts."

Celebrity Breakups: Heidi Klum & Seal Divorce
They’ve shared one of the most passionate unions in Tinseltown, so it comes as sad and surprising news that Heidi Klum is getting divorced from husband Seal.
Seal was the special guest during Monday’s (January 23) taping of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”.
With the episode set to air later this week, the 48-year-old British singer opened up about ending his marriage with wife of six and a half years, Heidi Klum, telling, “I think we were shocked. You go into these things with the greatest intentions when you say ‘I do’ and you say ’til death do us part.’ Those vows hold value. They are not just words… You try and you work through it and the thing that you quickly realize when you are married and you become a parent you do the best that you can.”
“It makes you actually appreciate your parents a lot more. The thing that I’m most proud about this great woman who married (and I really do mean that from the bottom of my heart), is that together she has given me four incredible gifts…four beautiful children [Leni, Henry, Johan, and Lou]. She still, in my opinion, the most wonderful woman in the world. I think our priority was to remain civil and do this thing with dignity. We still very much love each other,” Seal, who also performed “Let’s Stay Together” for the daytime talk show, added. “To say that neither of us were grieving would be an out and out lie (and I don’t mind telling you that). I think the operative here is that we are civil to each other and we both have a tremendous amount of respect and love and we try and do this with as much dignity as we possibly can.”
Meanwhile, the “Kiss From a Rose” singer also commented on the fact that he was still sporting his wedding band, as he explained, “Yes, I am still wearing my ring. I think it’s just pretty much a token of how I feel about this woman. We have eight years. Eight wonderful years together. Just because we have decided to separate doesn’t necessarily mean you take off your ring and you’re no longer connected to that person. We will be connected in many ways ‘til the rest of our lives…. though our children and also through this tremendous admiration, respect and love that we have for each other. Will we wear the ring for the rest of our lives? Who knows? But right now it feels really comfortable on my hand so I have intentions of taking it off anytime soon.”

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard: Dating?

It wouldn't be the first time, most likely. Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are "100 percent dating," according to Us Weekly's new cover story, not even two weeks after the actor separated from longtime girlfriend Vanessa Paradis.
Amber Heard and Tasya van Ree split up as well, so ...
"They are 100% dating," a source says of The Rum Diary co-stars. "He treats her very well." Another source says he just bought her a horse, so ... there's that.
The duo met back in 2009 but didn't become romantic until the film's promotional tour in 2011, when Depp and Paradis were already seriously estranged.
"They started sleeping together during the press tour," a pal says.
Obviously, it's unconfirmed based on these accounts, but rumors continue to surround Johnny and Amber. You tell us: Would they make a good couple?

Jackson</a> hosts the 2012 BET Awards on July 1, live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. On Tuesday (May 22), BET announced the nominees for their 2012 awards show and even confirmed performances by <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/brown__chris__18_/artist.jhtml">Chris Brown</a> and <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/minaj__nicki/artist.jhtml">Nicki Minaj</a> (though there was no official word on whether the Hulk will attend).</P><P>BET president Stephen Hill held a press conference in New York City on Tuesday, and with the help of <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/big_sean/artist.jhtml">Big Sean</a>, DJ Khaled, A$AP Rocky, Diggy, Mindless Behavior and Melanie Fiona, he spilled the beans about the big show. Samuel L. wasn't in attendance, but "The Avengers" star sent a pre-taped message promising that the show will be "too big to miss."</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Big Sean Got Grandma's Support For BET Awards" id="vid:771561" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>Kanye West leads the nominations with seven, including two Video of the Year nods for <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/02/09/niggas-in-paris-video-jay-z-kanye-west">the Throne's "N---as in Paris"</a> and "Otis." Beyoncé notched six nominations, while hubby Jay-Z earned himself five noms. Cole, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and Young Jeezy.</P><P>"It's perfect. My grandma gonna be watchin', my mom, my family, the whole city," Sean told MTV News shortly after the press conference. It's just tight that I can show people that it's possible."</P><P>Sean broke through last year when he dropped his debut LP <i>Finally Famous.</i> Next, the "Marvin & Chardonnay" MC will appear on G.O.O.D Music's <i>Cruel Summer</i> compilation and then follow up with his sophomore album.</P><P>Sean isn't the only big dog being honored at the awards show. Chris Brown, Usher and Bruno Mars are among the nominees in the Best Male R&B category, while Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige and Rihanna will duke it out in the Best Female category.
